Josephine’s art has been greatly influenced by other artists and teachers. She admires the Impressionists for their usage of light, brilliance of color and solidity of form, but tends toward her own interpretation of realism. She paints in a variety of media, but prefers watercolor and pen and ink, with a tendency toward landscapes.Josephine was born in Piacenza, Italy. In New York she has studied at the Art Students’ League with Mario Cooper, at the Art Lab with Tom Chibarro and Ron Ferallo. She has studied art history and fine arts at Brooklyn College, the College of Staten Island, Long Island University, and New York University.
Josephine Buck is a member of the Staten Island Artists' Association and the South Shore Artists’ Group.
She has received several awards for her work. Josephine says, “Art, to me, is expression and creativity. My goal is to render composition, clarity and beauty to my works, and totally enjoy the process.”
